CODY SCOTT
Biography

Cody Scott Sassaman was born on August 30, 1989 to Shelley (a Physician's Assistant) and Richard (a retired high school teacher) in Hershey, PA. He is the eldest of three children, including two sisters, Casey and Carly. His musical style is related closely to rockin' John Mayer song, a powerful blues rock, or a soft melodic ballad.

A native of Tamaqua, he graduated from Tamaqua Area High School and continued his education at Bloomsburg University. He was a drummer while in middle school, but decided to go in a different direction when he got to highschool. Scott began picking up the guitar at age thirteen after listening to the songs being played on the car radio.
"I always wondered how they were able to do that",  and after much pleading, his mother finally gave in. Cody still has that first guitar and still uses it as one of his main guitars.

Cody's main influences are rock, pop, and country. Some of his main influences include: The Beatles, The Barenaked Ladies, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Oasis, Jack Johnson, Eve 6, The Eagles, Garth Brooks, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and even Chuck Berry.

Shortly after Cody picked up the guitar, he started taking lessons from various guitar teachers, until he found Maury's Music and Chris Davis. "They [Chris D, Chris S, and Maury] all showed me so much, whether it be the actual playing or how to get myself out there and into performing for audiences. Without those guys I would never have found my true potential". After Cody started to get his name out, he formed a makeshift rock n roll jam band in 2005 with some high school friends called BlackJack.  Unfortunately, the band broke up after only a couple years together.

Cody currently plays as a solo act and has since graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Elementary Education. He currently plays local venues and several annual charity events throughout the year.

"I love music and the power it has of enveloping someone into it. There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not involved, affected, or moved by music in someway or somehow". - CS
